Have you ever walked into a room and felt the temperature change right away?
Maybe the room felt too cold.
Maybe it felt warm and comforting.
You noticed it before anyone had to say a word.
Your body works in a similar way.
Throughout the day, it picks up on what is happening around you and within you. Your shoulders may rise. Your breathing may become shallow. Your stomach may tighten. You may suddenly feel tired, restless, or on edge.
And most of the time, we respond in one of two ways.
We notice what we feel and take a moment to check in.
Or we keep moving.
We smile. We may say we are fine.
We push through it because there is still work to do, someone needs us, or we do not feel like we have time to stop.
I know what it is like to keep going while my body is asking me to slow down.
I thought pushing through was a sign of strength. But I began to see that strength can also look like paying attention.
It can look like noticing when your jaw gets tight during a conversation.
It can feel like your stomach is dropping when you are about to say yes to something you do not want to do.
It can look like noticing how your whole body softens around someone who makes you feel safe.

These feelings do not always tell you exactly what choice to make. But they give you information. And that information deserves your attention.
Your body is responding to the places you enter, the people you spend time with, the thoughts you repeat, and the choices you make.
Take a few moments during the day to pause.
Ask yourself:
What am I feeling in my body right now?
Where am I holding tension?
Do I feel open, guarded, tired, calm, or unsettled?
And what might I need in this moment?
You do not have to fix everything right away.
Start by noticing.
Because your body may be showing you where you feel safe, where you feel strained, and where you have been leaving yourself behind.
Pay attention to the room within you.
Your body has been living there the whole time.
